Excellent First Meeting

Kayla did an awesome job of running the first meeting of the school year. There were approximately 28 members present. Rita was there to help keep it all together and Joe handled all things financial as the club's treasurer. A number of topics were discussed including:
  • There will be an anime screening on Wednesday, October 7 during A and B lunch in the library. Bag lunches are permitted. Reviews need to be completed for Operation Anime
  • Kayla discussed several possibilities for fund raisers including selling baked goods, hats, and other items
  • The club blog was reviewed
  • Students interested in working on the Manga Banner wrote their names down. Kayla will be meeting with these students to create a 2'x8' banner to go about the manga collection
  • Member responsibilities, including shelving and maintaining the collection, were discussed
  • Community Service Projects: the club is working with the Teen Council to collect 120 boxes of cereal for the Strasburg Compassion Cupboard, a local food pantry
  • Club members will help keep Mrs. Bushman aware of additions made to each manga series
  • Members will be creating blogs in order to post book and anime reviews
  • Kayla will be maintaining the manga art blog and members were invited to submit original art work
  • Members will group informally at each meeting depending on what they series they are reading for discussion
  • Dues must be paid before members may attend the next meeting
  • The club ended with door prizes!
